As much as Cozzy and I like to bitch about the state of games(and it is shitty), there are still rays of hope. One ray, in particular, is called A Machine for Pigs. Rock Paper Shotgun has an interview with the developers.
I, for one, am very excited. Not only because Dear Esther was superb, but because this means that Frictional is now financially sound enough to act as an executive producers. Really, this is is all nothing but good news.

On top of the rich visuals, Pinchbeck wants A Machine for Pigs to offer a world that players can believe in. Everything in the game's environment exists for a reason, and Pinchbeck said that he wants players to explore the world, pick apart its internal logic, and "become more horrified as they think about the world more and more."
"We want this game to be absolutely skin-crawlingly, heart-shatteringly, and nerve-jarringly terrifying -- that's the target. Everything is geared around that. Just turning people to complete ice and making them have complete meltdowns," he added.

I think the title alone is masterful. It's so dark and evil. Brings to mind a squealing mass of filthy, squirming humans, screaming in terror and pain and being sliced and diced and smashed.
